HEALTH NEWS Health sector Intervention JOHESU Strike

Why JOHESU Strike was Suspended

Normalcy seems to have returned in all the government hospital nationwide after six weeks of JOHESU strike. Full scale health services have resumed at different service delivery points and Health workers are in high spirit as they deliver their services to the patients.

JOHESU suspended the strike in compliance with the court ruling wherein her dispute with the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) was referred to the Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN). In compliance with the Court’s directive, JOHESU has nominated representatives to participate in the discussions with NICN and FGN aimed at the resolution of the current impasse.

In the light of the above, JOHESU has once more shown her commitment towards the wellbeing of the Nigerian patients by suspending the strike action as she expects the Alternative Dispute Resolution team to intervene in finding lasting solutions to her demands. It is expected that this intervention would bring a lasting solution to the crisis in health sector.
