Children are the most vulnerable individuals all over the world. They are usually at the mercy of decisions and actions of the adults around them. They are the victims of all forms of aggression; yet not much is heard of them. The six most common violations are recruitment and use of children in war, killing, sexual violence, abduction, attack on schools and hospitals, and denial of humanitarian access.
They face other forms of violence like hawking on the roads, lack of access to food, clothing, shelter, health care and education. Many adults would say that they are not abusing any child; yet they verbally abuse their wards (children) and delegate to them the domestic duties which they consider very tedious for their own children to handle.
Do not forget that these abused children are also members of the society like your own children and they will compete with each other, face the future together as well as determine the safety of the society.
In the light of the above, the United Nations set aside today 4th June every year; to acknowledge the pain these children are going through and raise awareness for the protection of their rights. You are by this means, called to protect the rights of children, so as to make sure that they are safe from physical, mental and emotional abuse.
