FMC Owerri on the News Again!
On Thursday, 15th April 2021, the Honourable Minister of State For Health Sen. (DR) Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora paid scheduled visit to Federal Medical Centre Owerri Imo State. The purpose of the visit was to commission various projects carried out by the hospital management led by the Medical Director, Dr Kingsley Achigbu.
At the event were the Governor of Imo State represented by the Commissioner for Health Dr Bartholomew Okorochukwu, the Director General, Nigeria Centre for Diseease control (NCDC) Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, The Traditional Ruler of Umuoronjo Autonomous community Owerri Municipal HRH EZE Dr Clinton Uboegbulem, the Staff, Board Members and Management of the hospital, as well as other dignities.
The Medical Director welcomed the guests. He presented the history of the hospital and gave an overview of the services available in the hospital. He went further to enumerate the challenges and needs of the hospital as well as requested for quick interventions to achieve optimal service provision. The Honourable Minister of State for Health responded to the issues raised by the Medical Director and pledged that the Federal Government would continue to support the hospital in all possible ways.
The hospital management led the Honourable Minister of State For Health to various projects for commissioning namely:
- The new Dialysis Centre
- The 33KV power project
- The MRI building
- The Infectious disease complex
